Sharp's history begins with its founder, Tokuji Hayakawa, establishing the metal processing industry in Tokyo in 1912. In 1915, Hayakawa invented the Ever-Ready Sharp Pencil, a metal lead pencil that was all the rage. This is where the current Sharp Company name and trademark came from. After that, Sharp successively developed Japan's first ore radio, black and white TV and the world's first all-transistor electronic calculator and other products, and gradually developed into a comprehensive electronic manufacturer producing household appliances, communication equipment, solar cells, LCD panels, LED, LSI and other electronic components.
