NEC's business in China officially began in 1972 to provide China with satellite ground station construction services, and has been involved in switches, semiconductors, optical communications, computers, mobile communications, IT solutions and other fields, the establishment of a number of wholly-owned, joint ventures. The main business covers operator network, IT solutions, software development and sales. As an important part of NEC(China) Co., LTD., NEC China Research Institute is based in China and focuses on the cutting-edge technology research of wireless communication and artificial intelligence.
